Hardwood Flooring was founded in 1946 by Samuel Weinman. Originally based in the Bronx, his company mission was to be the #1 distributor of floor covering products to customers in the NY metro area. Moving to Elmsford in 1955, the same location it is today, Hardwood Flooring was strategically placed near most major Westchester highways gaining easy access for distribution all over the tri-state area.

His wife, Sylvia Weinman, was the office manager and continued doing the books for 48 years until her retirement in 1994.

In 1972 his son, Larry Weinman, joined the Hardwood team and learned the business and industry. When Sam passed away in 1974, Larry took over. The industry was growing and changing at that time. Prefinished flooring and laminates were introduced to the market and Hardwood brought in other product lines including vinyl, linoleum and carpeting. More and more species were added and Hardwood always carried the most variety of any store in the tri-state area, which is one of the biggest consumers of wood flooring in the US.

He continued selling these products for many years but eventually streamlined the collections so as to specialize in just wood products, bamboo, cork and laminates, as it is today. Larry still continues to have a hand in the day to day business of Hardwood while his well trained sales staff and installers continue the tradition and work ethics with which Hardwood Flooring began. Now, a 3rd generation business since his daughter, Shara Weinman, joined the team, Hardwood continues to grow and supply the entire tri-state area with the best quality wood and unsurpassed service all at affordable prices. Experience breeds excellence!
